Flip This! - Vintage Sewing Boxes & Baskets

One of my big regrets in life is not letting my mom, who is a fabulous seamstress, teach me how to sew. Oh she tried, and I made a few half-hearted attempts to learn, but I was really more interested in reading books than getting creative in the sewing room. So I have big respect for the people out there that did learn, and there is one thing I always pick up for them when I am out at the sales - vintage sewing boxes.

I have yet to find one that didn't sell, no matter if it was plastic, wicker, big, small - apparently there is a buyer out there for every type of box. The larger ones sell easily in the $20-$35 range, and sometimes for more, especially if they are really unique or packed full of grandma's notions (needles, thread, etc.) Here are the last two I sold:

SOLD - $25.00

SOLD - $24.00

Wil-Hold, Princess, and Dritz are good brands to look for, but like I said if it is vintage and is meant to hold sewing supplies, it will sell. Here are a few other recently sold items from eBay:

SOLD - $52.00
from eBay seller vintageverafter

SOLD - $59.99
from eBay seller mkme6969

SOLD - $56.00
from eBay seller morninglarue

SOLD - $45.00
from eBay seller gb-best

SOLD - $36.99
from eBay seller menda65

SOLD - $24.99
from eBay seller missbarbara*s

I would imagine these would be an easy sell on Etsy also, but since I've always had such good luck with them on eBay that is where I list the ones I find. It looks like there are nearly 2,000 listed on Etsy right now actually! ;)

Wow, I love sewing boxes and I do sew. I have a few to list on Etsy, but over 2,000 already there is amazing. I have the one in the second photo, I use it for my beading supplies. I really like the little red check one that is adorable. Now I have to go check out ebay, thanks!
